Anna Mária Srbová

Chairman of SIMS (2nd year, Area Studies)

Hellooooo, my name is Anička Srbová, and I’m currently a second-year student in the Bachelor’s program in Area Studies.

What brought me to SIMS was primarily my enthusiasm for building a sense of community at our faculty and the opportunity to get involved in areas that I find meaningful. So right after the orientation course, I joined the society, and after a year of being active, I became (much to my surprise) its president. I’m really looking forward to my new role, as well as to the whole academic year full of wonderful (!!) events, and I hope to see some of you at one of them… whether it’s a lecture, a prom, or a pub quiz;)).

Besides history, travelling, international affairs, and all those things we at IMS seem to be interested in, I also really enjoy sports and spending time in nature. Ideally, you’ll find me hiking somewhere in the mountains or doing yoga. Since I was little, I’ve also been into art, and I have a weakness for good coffee and Czech koláčky.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know you.

Anna Brožová

Vice-Chairman of SIMS with delegated authority for the social events section (2nd year, Area Studies)

Hi! My name is Anička and I am currently a second-year student of Area Studies. I joined SIMS at the beginning of my first year thanks to the great community I saw there. From the beginning, I found myself mainly involved in organizing social events. Over the past year, I have managed to co-organize various social events, such as the Christmas Pubquiz or Yoga at the Jinonice Library.

In addition to my studies, I also work part-time, volunteer at Amnesty International as a lecturer of human rights workshops, travel a lot (but still less than I would like), practice yoga, read, go to concerts and do practically anything I can think of. I also like meeting new people and cultures. Don't be afraid to contact me! I will be happy to help. And most importantly, see you at SIMS events!

Monika Paríšková

Vice-Chairman of SIMS with delegated authority for the academic affairs section (1st year, North American Studies)

Hi everyone! I'm Monča and I'm a first-year master's student in North American Studies. I joined SIMS during my second year of bachelor's because I wanted to get more involved in academic life, try new things, and as a huge bonus, I gained a group of great, reliable friends. Currently, I serve as the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Academically, I'm interested in human rights, security threats, the US, Canada, and the geopolitics of North Korea. Outside of school, you'll most likely catch me with headphones on, at concerts, or traveling all over the place (last year, for example, I fell in love with the Balkan).

You can usually find me at SIMS events or around the hallways in Jinonice. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything, and I really hope to see you at our events or right here in the student union! <3

Anežka Konířová

Vice-Chairman of SIMS with delegated authority for the PR section (2nd year, Area Studies)

"Hey everyone! My name is Anežka and I’m a second-year Territorial Studies student. SIMS caught my attention back at the post-enrollment beer, and the freshman orientation camp confirmed that being part of this crew is going to make my studies a lot more fun.

In SIMS, I hold the position of Vice-President for PR, and I also love helping out with organizing social events (parties, beers, trips). I’m really into art as well, so you’ll definitely spot me on architectural walks, or at theatres, cinemas, and exhibitions – SIMS offers all of that, after all. I’m interested in all territories and would love to visit every single one, maybe even from a journalistic perspective. I get to practice that right now by managing our social media (for instance, I documented our trip to the Balkans this spring).

Apart from my studies, I do part-time babysitting, dance street dance (and my style kind of reflects that), do some recreational climbing, create art-related projects, listen to Swedish musicians, and enjoy supporting local pubs and cafes in Prague, as well as back in České Budějovice (which is where I’m originally from). I’m happy to help you out with anything, so feel free to drop a message at @simsgramy – and don't forget to follow us!"

Pavel Buchta

Vice-Chairman of SIMS for HR (2nd year, Balkan and Central European Studies)

Hey everyone! My name is Pavel, and I’m currently a second-year master’s student in Balkan and Central European Studies. Regionally, I’m most drawn to Russia and the post-Soviet space, but above all, the Western Balkans. After all, my study stay in Sarajevo was an absolute banger. Last academic year, I served as the president of SIMS, and I’m now heading into my fifth year in the association, making me one of the two longest-serving members (shoutout to Jarda ;). This year, I’ve taken on the role of Vice President for HR, so among other things, I manage our membership base and track meeting absences. In SIMS, I love organizing and supporting academic events (both old and new) focused (not only) on the Western Balkans, as well as social gatherings like Hallobeer, Welcome Party, and all kinds of pub quizzes.

Keby nebolo štúdium, nie som ani ja. But outside of hardcore study sessions, I also work with international students, so I really enjoy connecting with people from all over the world. I love cooking and good food, discovering tucked-away pubs with foosball tables, and traveling whenever I can. In my spare time, I’m learning Croatian/Bosnian, and I recently completed a three-week Croatian language course in Zagreb—which was an absolute blast, too. If you ever need a hand with anything, whether Balkan-related or not, feel free to reach out! #IMSPROUD

Dita Krutilová

Vice-Chairman of SIMS with delegated authority for the section for interunions’ communication and internationalisation (3rd year, Area Studies)

Hi there! My name is Dita and I’m in my third year studying Area Studies here at IMS. This year, I’m serving as Vice-Chair for Inter-Society Communication and Internationalisation. It might sound a bit formal, but in practice it mainly means that I enjoy bringing people, societies and all sorts of activities taking place at the faculty together. I love to talk – and I talk a lot – to everyone about everything, so if you fancy a chat or need some advice, definitely don’t hesitate to come and see me – I won’t bite!

Academically, I’m most interested in the European Union and European politics, but outside of university you’re just as likely to find me reading, building with Lego or off travelling somewhere! At the faculty, you’ll most often find me at various debates, pub quizzes or the FSV pentathlon (definitely look out for me there!)

So don’t be afraid to come along, ask questions, get involved or just have a chat. There’s loads going on at the faculty and in SIMS, and it would be a shame to just watch it all from a distance. I look forward to seeing you!

Jiří Hrešan

Treasurer (3rd year, Area Studies)

Hello there! My name is Jiří and I am in the third year of my bachelor studies in programme Area Studies. I have entered the SIMS in my first year on the faculty. Even this year I will fulfill the role of the treasurer of SIMS, or rather a debt collector who will knock on the door of anyone with pending debt.

Academically, I focus on a combination of political science and a matter of nationality and how the cultural national differences influence the political culture and local political system. Based on the area, I mostly stay in Central Europe and Czechoslovakia. Yet occasionally I venture to other regions like Western Europe, North America or even Asia.

You will not meet me so often in Jinonice but you will definitely recognise me at our events. And if you are unlucky/lucky enough we might end up sitting together over a drink until 4 am in the morning. XD
