Call for Applications for the Position of Director of the Institute of International Studies

The Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University announces a selection procedure for the position of Director of the Institute of International Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University.

Requirements:

• An academic or scientific degree (at least a Ph.D. or an equivalent or higher qualification)
• At least five years of teaching and research experience in the fields of international studies, modern history, area studies, European studies, or related social science disciplines, including publication, creative, and grant-related activities
• Experience in managing a team
• Strong organisational, communication, and managerial skills
• Advanced knowledge of the academic environment
• Familiarity with financial management, budgeting, and administrative matters
• Proficiency in the Czech language at the level of a proficient user (C2)
• Proficiency in the English language at the level of an advanced user (C1)

We offer:

• A full-time position (1.0 FTE)
• Expected start date: January 1, 2027
• Job responsibilities: coordination of the Institute’s research and educational activities and those of its constituent units; management of the financial resources entrusted to the Institute; and management of the Institute’s administrative operations

• An overview of the applicant’s research and publication activities
• Copies of documents certifying completed education, academic qualifications, and scientific degrees (this does not apply to applicants who are currently or have previously been employed by the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, and whose educational qualifications have previously been verified by the Faculty’s Human Resources Department)
• An outline of the Institute’s development strategy for the period 2027–2030, focusing in particular on the concept for the teaching and research activities of the Institute of International Studies
