Internal Call for Six Positions at the Centre for Doctoral Studies for the period from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027

The Director of IMS FSV UK, in agreement with the directors of the doctoral study programmes Area Studies (AS) and Modern History (MH), announces an internal call for applications to fill six positions at the Centre for Doctoral Studies (CDS) for the period from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027.

Membership is remunerated at CZK 2.500 net per month, irrespective of the doctoral stipend received. The scope of duties at CDS will include appropriate participation in organising activities related to doctoral studies, in particular the assisstance to newly enrolled students, preparation of the doctoral conference, the admissions process, and the public presentation of doctoral programmes. Members of CDS will also have the opportunity to independently
organise events related to doctoral studies, such as seminars, guest lectures, or workshops.

The call is open to doctoral students enrolled in the AS and MH programmes who, in the academic year 2026/2027 will be in the third, fourth, or fifth year of full-time study and who received a grade of “A” in their most recent evaluation.

Applicants for membership in CDS are required to submit their application by 8 June 2026 at 12:00 (noon) by email to andrea.smolikova@fsv.cuni.cz.

Admission is conditional upon the successful completion of the selection procedure. The selection committee will consist of the directors of the doctoral study programmes and one additional member appointed by the Director of IMS.

Applications must take the form of a motivation letter (1–2 pages) in which candidates outline their proposed activities within CDS. 

The results of the selection procedure will be announced by 30 June 2026.
