Last week, there was a screening of the Oscar-winning film "Mr. Nobody vs. Putin"
Last week, the Department of Russian and East European Studies hosted a screening of the film Mr. Nobody Against Putin, which won the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature this past March.
The event was also attended by the film’s main protagonist, teacher Pavel Talankin, who shot all the footage directly at his school in Russia. In his footage, he captures the workings of the propaganda machine, the militarization of children, and the recruitment of graduates directly into the war.
The screening was followed by a discussion with Pavel Talankin, and attendees also had the opportunity to get a close look at the Oscar statuette, which he passed around the hall. Throughout the event, Associate Professor Slavomír Horák provided interpretation from Russian into Czech.
