In October, IMS will host a workshop titled "Global East – Global South: Relations, Memory, Knowledge"
Institute of International Studies invites applications for the international workshop Global East – Global South. Relations. Memory. Knowledge., which will take place in Prague on 7–9 October 2026.
The workshop explores cultural relations, memory practices, communication processes, and knowledge production across and between the Global South and the Global East, with particular attention to historical entanglements, decolonisation, post-socialist transformations, transregional cultural exchanges, and alternative perspectives that move beyond traditional East–West and North–South frameworks. Bringing together specialists from different disciplinary backgrounds, the workshop provides a platform for interdisciplinary discussion and intellectual exchange across academic traditions. One of the keynote speakers will be Professor Jie-Hyun Lim, who specialises in transnational history and has conceptualised the paradigm of so-called ‘Mass Dictatorship’ and ‘Victimhood Nationalism’.
Rather than a traditional conference, the workshop is designed as an interactive forum based on discussion, collaborative work, and intellectual exchange across disciplinary and regional boundaries.
