On Tuesday, July 28, doctoral student Lamiya Panahova successfully defended her dissertation in the Area Studies program. Her research focused on efforts to shape Azerbaijani identity through narratives guided by state policy and on how these identities are conveyed to students in local schools. -

Ediz Hazir has presented his research at international conferences
Ediz Hazir, a doctoral student at KRVS, has spoken at two international conferences in recent months, where he presented the results of his research. At the end of March, he spoke at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in Sofia at a conference titled Diplomacy, Intelligence, and Influence in the Balkans and Beyond, 17th–19th Centuries, where he presented a paper titled The Bulgarian Uniate Movement as the Holy See’s Strategy: Religious Diplomacy and the Reorientation of Catholic Policy in the Balkans (1860–1861).
