Přípravné kurzy: Area Studies
In the 2025/2026 academic year, the Institute of International Studies will once again offer preparatory courses for entrance exams to the bachelor's program in Territorial Studies in both full-time and distance learning formats as part of its lifelong learning courses. The courses will be conducted online only (via MS Teams or Zoom). Successful completion of the final test at the end of these courses is equivalent to the admission procedure.
How to apply?
Enrollment in the course will take place through the Charles University Study Information System (SIS) and is conditional upon submitting an application to the bachelor's program in Territorial Studies.

Course registration will open on November 18, 2025.
It is also possible to register for courses during their duration, but no later than February 5, 2026.

Information for the academic year 2025/2026
Course objective: The course serves to practice the knowledge needed for the above-mentioned admission procedure to the bachelor's program in Territorial Studies (TS) and may also be useful for preparing for admission procedures to other study programs.
In terms of content, the main emphasis will be placed on post-war history and current issues in the countries of the European Union, the former Soviet Union, Southeast Europe, and the North American continent.
Each lecture will be accompanied by a short, jointly corrected test, which participants may keep. Each lecture will be accompanied by a brief bibliography to expand knowledge on the given topic.
Course duration: The course, consisting of a total of twelve meetings, will take place twice a week in the early evening from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. between January 27, 2026, and March 5, 2026.
Course completion: The course ends with a test, which will take place on March 26, 2026, via the Moodle platform. Participants who successfully complete the course will be exempt from entrance exams for the bachelor's degree program in Territorial Studies, both in its full-time and distance learning forms. Course participants will be informed of the course results and possible conditional admission to the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University (FSV UK) by the end of March so that they can focus on successfully completing their secondary education. Conditional admission refers to the situation preceding the official notification of the applicant's admission by the dean of the faculty. The questions in the final test are not identical to the questions in the jointly corrected tests that conclude each lecture!

The course is based on regular and monitored attendance. A maximum of two absences are permitted. During the preparatory course, it is necessary to have your camera turned on.
