I am pursuing a PhD under joint supervision at the Institute of International Studies, FSV CUNI and the Graduate School for the Humanities at the University of Groningen. My research interests lie in the intersection of culture studies, political science and media studies. More particularly, I focus on the role the transition from non-democratic regimes to democracy plays in the perceptions, values and mental images of a given society.
In my dissertation research titled Governance Legitimacy in the Oligarchized Settings: The Case of Bulgaria, I look at the process of (de)legitimation of governance actors during the Bulgarian uprising in 2020 and 2021. More particularly, I look at conceptual metaphor's role in building successful (de)legitimation narratives.

My research interests are threefold: 1) the role the transition from non-democratic regimes to democracy plays in the perceptions, values and mental images of a given society, 2) the role of conceptual metaphor in human thought and communication, 3) Bulgarian politics and society.
