Klára Smitková is a PhD student in the Area Studies programme and a researcher at the Department of Russian and East European Studies, IMS FSV UK. Her research focuses on the perception of the communist regime and Nicolae Ceaușescu in today's society, nostalgia and reshaping memories. She's also interested in post-communist transformation and democratization processes in Central and Eastern Europe and in the history and contemporary issues of Romania. She is a co-founder of the research centre "Centre for Digital Humanities Integration" at IMS and also teaches new research methods in digital humanities at the BA and MA level. Currently she is working as Event & Office Manager at Peace Research Center Prague.
