General information
History and Area Studies (HAS) is an interdisciplinary three-year English-language bachelor's degree programme that is ideal for students who have a keen interest in the fields of area studies and modern history, Central Europe, and the Czech language.
This study programme is provided by the Institute of International Studies in cooperation with the Institute for Language and Preparatory Studies of Charles University. It combines education in history and area studies with active training in the Czech language. Students will achieve at least a B2 (Upper Intermediate) level in Czech by the end of their studies.

The admission window for the study period 2026/2027 – 2028/2029 will open soon.
You can apply to HAS from 1 November 2025 until 30 April 2026.
Applications submitted in full by 28 February 2026 will already be evaluated in March. For students from visa-seeking countries, we strongly recommend submitting your application within this early-bird period.
