East German architects in the global South: The GDR, UN architectural projects and global socialism in the late Cold War
This project examines UN-intermediated interactions of architects, engineers and authorities from the GDR with their counterparts from the global South. Although a significant number of architectural projects in the countries of the global South have been commissioned by the United Nations and carried out on its behalf by actors from the socialist camp, hitherto research has often been limited to bilateral cooperation. Against this background, this project sheds light on multilateral architectural cooperation in the Global Cold War.
