A SnS Roundtable - Albania’s EU Integration: Aspirations, Challenges and Milestones

Albania applied for EU membership during the Czech Presidency of the European Council on 28 April 2009. In this roundtable, the Center of Small (Nation-)States within/without Empires and Unions (SnS) brings together the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the Czech Republic, H.E. Ilir Tepelena, and the Head of the Department of Political Science at the University of Tirana, Klodiana Beshku to discuss Albania’s long and yet recently momentous efforts to become an EU Member State by 2030. Key discussions will address why such an aspiration remains long enduring and strongly supported in Albanian society, the key challenges and milestones, and how the country has drawn on the support and the experience of the Czech Republic in the transformative process.

This roundtable will occur on Thursday, 27 March 2025, from 17:00 to 19:00, in Room B103A of the Jinonice campus (Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University). You can also join the event online using the following https://cesnet.zoom.us/j/95621522273?pwd=rURaPAm2PP4b6o5gaoGCQMkJkxkb3M.1
