We would like to cordially invite you to a lecture titled “Russian Chauvinist Threat and the Zeitenwende in German Russia-policy” with our honorary guest Sabine Fischer. The event takes place on Wednesday 23rd October 2024, 9:30-10:50, Room C420.
Dr Sabine Fischer is a Senior Fellow, Research Division Eastern Europe and Eurasia, at the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik, SWP, (German Institute for International and Security Affairs) in Berlin. In her research, she focuses on domestic and foreign policy of Russia, Russia’s war against Ukraine, EU-Russia relations, unresolved conflicts in EU's Eastern Neighbourhood. She has recently published a widely discussed book “Die Chauvinistische Bedrohung. Russlands Kriege und Europäische Antworten“ (The Chauvinist threat: The Russian wars and Europan answers).
She holds a doctorate in political science from Johann Wolfgang Goethe University, Frankfurt/Main, on identity concepts and their impact on Russian foreign policy throughout the 1990s. In her academic career she was a research fellow at the European Union Institute for Security Studies, the Freie Universität Berlin, the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research, and the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt.
From 2019 until 2021 she was based in Moscow as a team leader in the “Public Diplomacy. EU and Russia” project. She is a Vice President and Member of Executive Board of the German Association for East European Studies (DGO), declared recently an extremist anti-Russian institution by Putin´s regime.
