Area Studies

INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS ON THE AREA STUDIES PROGRAMME

Area Studies are an interdisciplinary programme with a strong background in modern history as the basis for understanding the fundamental contexts of the contemporary world. The programme covers the northern hemisphere area of ​​North America, Europe and Eurasia, and looks at developments in South East Asia, Latin America, the Pacific and the Mediterranean. From the chronological point of view, it follows events from the 19th century up to the present time, with an emphasis on the period after 1945.

Notices of the academic supervisor (in Czech only) of the programme are always issued by the academic supervisor of the study field at the beginning of each semester.

FINAL STATE EXAMINATION

The Final State Examination consists of an oral defense of their Bachelor's thesis, an oral examination from modern history and an oral examination from the area specialization.
