Balkan, Eurasian and Central European Studies (BECES)

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Balkan, Eurasian and Central European Studies programme deals with the historical, political, social and economic contexts of the Balkans, the post-Soviet space and Central Europe. In addition to a common foundation, the programme is divided into two study specialisations - Balkan and Central European Studies and Russian and Eurasian Studies. Students specialize in a clearly defined territory, focusing on history, political and social development, and economic contexts.

Depending on the chosen specialisation (Balkan and Central European Studies or Russian and Eurasian Studies), graduates of the Balkan, Eurasian and Central European Studies programme understand the specificities of a particular territory and are specialists in the region of their field of study. He/she represents a sought-after expert and analyst who understands the territorial specificities of the regions studied (history, politics, society and economic context). This makes the graduate of the study programme a sought-after candidate and highly valued employee in government, diplomacy, NGOs and international institutions, research and development, the private sector and the media, thanks to its very specific territorial specialisation.
