Workshop on the Development of Intercultural Competences of Czech and German PhD Students in Bamberg
Workshop on the Development of Intercultural Competences of Czech and German PhD Students in Bamberg
A group of Czech and German doctoral students met on the 27th and the 28th September
2019 in Bamberg within the project InKoNa.
The participants started after their arrival on the Friday afternoon with a city tour guided by
the intercultural trainer Armin Gertz who introduced them the history of Bamberg as well as
the local university. In the following morning, the group took part in the workshop on the
development of intercultural competences. The organisers aimed to sensitise the doctoral
students as well as to encourage their exchange of experience. Besides that, it offered space
for debate on the first outcomes from interviews. The programme covered, therefore, a
wide spectrum of topics, from defining the meaning of “intercultural competences” and
their levels to distinguishing general from country-specific values and cultural standards. All
activities were at the same time related to the question of which role these aspects play
within international collaboration in a scientific context.
