Zuzana Zavadilová awarded the Josef Hlávka Prize for 2024

Zuzana Zavadilová, graduate of the Master's programme in of Territorial Studies with a specialisation in German and Austrian Studies at the and Austrian Studies at the Institute of International Studies, was awarded the Josef Hlávka students and graduates for the year 2024.

Mgr. Zuzana Zavadilova was awarded the prize for her outstanding master's thesis entitled "Bavaria's Bilateral Relations with the Russian Federation: Between Foreign Relations and Foreign Policy", in which she characterises in detail and in a historical context the relationship between Bavaria and the Russian Federation and places it in the overall picture of German policy towards Russia. In the breadth and depth of its analysis of Bavarian policy towards Russia, the work is not unparalleled, even in German literature. In her work, Zuzana Zavadilová identifies and evaluates the complex factors that have shaped Bavaria's approach to Russia Russia, from the structural to the cognitive and institutional, interests, to personal and domestic politics. This is an important contribution to to the analysis of German and especially Bavarian politics, which other authors will to be taken into account by other authors.

The Josef Hlávka Prize is open to talented bachelor's, master's or Ph.D. who have demonstrated exceptional ability and creative thinking in their field, up to the age of in their field, up to the age of 33. Nominations for the prize should be submitted by the rectors of the Czech universities in Prague, from each faculty, according to the from each faculty in accordance with the approved rules. This year's awards were presented on 16 November 2024 in the castle of Josef Hlávka in Lužany near Přeštice.
