Invitation: online seminar with Tereza Juhászová
We warmly invite you to a seminar with RCMS member - Tereza Juhászová! She will be prezenting her work on "Navigating Turbulent Times: A Microhistory of a Multilingual Small Town in Mid-20th Century Slovakia".Tereza has recently defended her dissertation on this topic and we are sure that visiting Nižný Medzev and exploring it's diverse community with her will be an inspiring and thought-provoking journey. Join her in a debate with Tomasz Rawski (Center for Research on Social Memory Center for Research on Social Memory). The event will take place online: Tue, 4 November at 9:30am CET. -
Podcast on Serbian Orthodox Church with Karin Hofmeisterová
RCMS member Karin Hofmeistrová was recently a guest on the Hej Slované podcast. Together with host Jakub Novosad, they discussed the role of the Orthodox Church in Serbia, its links to political structures, especially the regime of Aleksandar Vučić, and its historical role in shaping Serbian identity. The interview covers the period from the establishment of the position of Orthodoxy in the Ottoman Empire, through its significant strengthening after 2000, to the current situation during the ongoing Russian war in Ukraine. -

Institute of International Studies (FSV UK) launches new Master’s programme in Transnational History
The Institute of International Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, has received accreditation for a new Master’s programme in Transnational History — the first of its kind at Charles University. The programme will commence in the academic year 2026/27. -

SIMS
SIMS is an informal association of the IMS students. Its task is to solve students' problems, so as to bridge the imaginary gap between them and the instructors. Another activity of the SIMS is to organize traditional social and educational events for (not only) the IMS students. These events include, for example Welcome Party, Christmas Part, Karaoke Party, lectures on current topics or an Orientation Week for the first years of the Bachelor's degree studies.

Alumni
The Institute values its graduates and likes to meet them at the traditional reunion in Grébovka. This year's reunion took place on 28 May 2024 in the restaurant Pavilion Grébovka in Havlíčkovy sady. At the meeting we celebrated together the significant 30th anniversary of our institute. The graduates were welcomed by the director of the institute, doc. Tomáš Nigrin. The event was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský.
