Workshop CENTRAL: Towards a Central European School in Modern History

Workshop CENTRAL: Towards a Central European School in Modern History
From 31 March to 1 April, the Institute of International Studies of the Faculty of International Studies at Charles University hosted a two-day international doctoral workshop of the CENTRAL network entitled Towards a Central European School in Modern History.
Building on previous meetings in Prague, Warsaw and Vienna, the workshop brought together doctoral candidates in modern history and related fields from the universities of Vienna, Budapest and Warsaw, as well as from our own PhD programme in modern history.
During two intensive days, the participants presented their projects focusing on the transformations of Central Europe after 1918, 1945 and 1989. They discussed not only national and regional contexts, but also the possibilities of methodologically transcending the borders of Central Europe and seeking the global context of local developments.
We thank all students and professors for their inspiring contributions, stimulating discussions and great atmosphere.
We look forward to next year in Vienna!
