Post-doctoral position available in the field of science diplomacy and research security (Horizon Europe projects)
The Institute of International Studies is advertising a vacancy for a postdoctoral research fellow (1.0) for a period of 24 months in the field of science diplomacy, research security and open strategic autonomy. The postdoctoral researcher will work on two closely related projects within the Horizon Europe programme: CUSP (Consolidating European Science Diplomacy) and QUEST (The European Union’s Quest for a Relational Open Strategic Autonomy). -

Leading American political scientist Larry Diamond will give a lecture next Wednesday on the rise of populist authoritarianism
Next Wednesday, 13 October, the Supply Chain Resilience Centre (SCRC) at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Charles University, will welcome its distinguished guest, Professor Larry Jay Diamond. Professor Diamond is an American political scientist at Stanford University and is regarded as one of the world’s leading experts on democracy and democratisation. His research focuses on global trends affecting democracy, the decline of democracy, and policies aimed at defending and promoting democracy worldwide. -
The research team behind the project ‘The Little Entente in History and Politics: Discourses and Politics for Overcoming Smallness’ is set to hold a kickoff workshop
The research team for the GAČR–DFG LEAD project: The Little Entente in History and Politics: Discourses and Politics for Overcoming Smallness will meet at the end of next week, on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 October, for an kickoff workshop at which they will present the project’s main theme, objectives and benefits.

SIMS
SIMS is an informal association of the IMS students. Its task is to solve students' problems, so as to bridge the imaginary gap between them and the instructors. Another activity of the SIMS is to organize traditional social and educational events for (not only) the IMS students. These events include, for example Welcome Party, Christmas Part, Karaoke Party, lectures on current topics or an Orientation Week for the first years of the Bachelor's degree studies.

Alumni
The Institute values its graduates and likes to meet them at the traditional reunion in Grébovka. This year's reunion took place on 27 May 2026 in the restaurant Pavilion Grébovka in Havlíčkovy sady. At the meeting we celebrated together the significant 30th anniversary of our institute. The graduates were welcomed by the director of the institute, doc. Tomáš Nigrin. The event was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský.
