Mikuláš Zvánovec's dissertation was published by De Gruyter

The prestigious German publishing house De Gruyter has published the dissertation of Mikuláš Zvánovec, a graduate of the PhD programme in Modern History.

The book offers a new comparative perspective on the formation of modern nations and nationalisms in Central Europe at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The author focuses on the dynamics of national struggles over education and compares German and Czech federal activities against the background of political democratization, mass mobilization, and social issues in the Habsburg monarchy in the years 1880-1918.
