New publication by doc. Marie Alina Asavei, D.Phil. in the Journal of Tourism and Cultural Change
Doc. Maria Alina Asavei, Ph.D., from the Institute of International Studies at Charles University’s Faculty of Social Sciences, has published a new article entitled “If you did not have a photo with the bear, you weren’t on vacation’: Souvenir Photographs from Communist Vacationing” in the prestigious Journal of Tourism and Cultural Change. -
Klára Kosová received Martina Roeselová's grant supporting young female scientists who are mothers
Klára Kosová, a doctoral student at the Department of Russian and East European Studies, has received the Martina Roeselová Memorial Grant, which focuses on supporting young female scientists who are mothers and helps them balance their parental responsibilities with their academic careers. In her research, Klára Kosová combines the humanities and social sciences with computational sciences and focuses on cognitive linguistics, political discourse analysis, and the issue of legitimacy crises in contemporary democracies. -
Anna Lukešová successfully defended her dissertation in the International Territorial Studies program
On Friday, November 7, Anna Lukešová successfully defended her dissertation "Multi-Level Governance of Civic Integration Policies: the Case of Czechia," which was written under the supervision of Dr. Paul Bauer in the International Territorial Studies program. In her study, Anna examined the management of integration policies and how this management has changed with the introduction of the civic integration approach. -

SIMS
SIMS is an informal association of the IMS students. Its task is to solve students' problems, so as to bridge the imaginary gap between them and the instructors. Another activity of the SIMS is to organize traditional social and educational events for (not only) the IMS students. These events include, for example Welcome Party, Christmas Part, Karaoke Party, lectures on current topics or an Orientation Week for the first years of the Bachelor's degree studies.

Alumni
The Institute values its graduates and likes to meet them at the traditional reunion in Grébovka. This year's reunion took place on 28 May 2024 in the restaurant Pavilion Grébovka in Havlíčkovy sady. At the meeting we celebrated together the significant 30th anniversary of our institute. The graduates were welcomed by the director of the institute, doc. Tomáš Nigrin. The event was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský.
