Science and Research at the IMS
Within the framework of the FSV research plan and in a number of other Czech and European grants, the Institute's members are developing the theory, methodology and the empirical research in all the major areas of social sciences.
The Institute publishes its own magazine, Studia Territorialia, which is a reviewed academic magazine covering Area Studies.
The students are also involved in the Institute's scientific activities as assistants or researchers, or as the main investigators in the projects of the Charles University Grant Agency (GA UK).

PhD student Johana Kłusek succeeded in her application for a Sylff Research Grant
We would like to congratulate our PhD student Johana Klusek, who is studying in the Modern History programme, for her successful application for the prestigious Sylff Research Grant. A total of 53 awardees from all over the world, including three UK students, received the award for 2022/2023. -
Study PhD at IMS FSV UK
This year, Institute of International Studies offers again two doctoral programmes - International Area Studies and Modern History. The deadline for applications has been set for 30 April 2023. -
Congratulations to successful applicants for Czech science foundation grant!
Czech Science Foundation is going to fund over 500 new projects starting this january - including project "Specialisation in EU small states’ foreign and security policy" of doc. Mgr. Tomáš Weiss, M.A., Ph.D. and PhDr. Barbora Menclová. Congratulations! -
Field Research in Horní Slavkov
Academics from the Institute of International Studies of Faculty of Social Sciences in cooperation with their counterparts from Lviv National University of Ukraine did field research in Horní Slavkov. The main interest for the scholars was the Integration of Ukrainian refugee children and minor internally displaced persons in a comparative perspective of the Czech Republic and Ukraine. -
