On March 8-10, 2024, the Interdisciplinary Conference "Re-Thinking Post-Socialist War(s): Comparative Dimensions of the War in Ukraine 2014 2024" was held in Giessen, Germany.

The conference is a collaborative effort between the Justus Liebig University Giessen and the Charles University in Prague. It is part of the project “UNDIPUS—(Un)Disciplined: Pluralizing Ukrainian Studies—Understanding the War in Ukraine”, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (subproject “After Masculinity: Female Perspectives on the War in Eastern Ukraine”).

The conference was attended by our Valeria Korablyova, a member of the Department of Russian and East European Studies and the head of the Ukraine in a Changing Europe Research Centre situated at IMS FSV UK. She presented her paper "From Hope to Fear and Back: The Geopolitics of Emotion after 1989" at the conference on March 8 and introduced the kynote speaker Marc R. Beissinger in the evening.

She also moderated the panel "Unravelling the post-communist space II" on 9 March and led a post-screening debate on the film "20 DAYS IN MARIUPOL". This film can be seen as part of the upcoming One World Festival.
