Certificate in Digital Humanities

Certificate in Digital Humanities

Students enrolled in the BECES programme have the opportunity to earn a Certificate in Digital Humanities alongside their degree. This certificate comprises four specialised courses and provides students with essential data literacy and digital competencies that are increasingly valued across disciplines in both academic research and professional practice. Students undertake courses covering core concepts and methodological approaches in Digital Humanities, data analysis using R, and the application of artificial intelligence within the humanities and social sciences. They will acquire practical skills in data work—learning how to locate and process large datasets, analyse texts using machine learning tools, create visualisations, interpret statistical outputs, and apply AI methods to specific research questions.

The certificate is designed for students at all levels of study with little or no prior technical training. Emphasis is placed on the practical application of the acquired skills in the design and execution of independent research projects. We would like to encourage BECES students to consider the Certificate in Digital Humanities, especially those who expect digital competencies to support their diploma theses. The earned ECTS credits can be included in students’ study plans as optional courses, and all completed courses will be listed in the official academic transcript.

Further information is available on the Certificate in Digital Humanities webpage and in the accompanying handbook. These resources include, among other things, detailed course descriptions and guidance on when and how to enrol.
