NIICE: New Integration In Central Europe

Jean Monnet Chair in EU Political and Administrative Studies held by prof. Ivo Šlosarčík

The aim of NIICE is to enrich and deepen teaching of European Union studies at the Charles University, modernise the curriculum and further enhance its interdisciplinary character. In particular, the activities proposed reflect higher assertiveness of new EU members from Central Europe in the EU, limits of impact of the EU membership on core socio-economic patterns of new EU countries and lack of convergence between administrative and political structures in old and new EU states. It addresses the fact that new member states from Central Europe perceive themselves as being beyond the first “teaching phase” of their EU membership and, consequently start to formulate their priorities and ideas about the European integration process more assertively, albeit not always very clearly or consistently.

NIICE activities include courses for students, activities targeted at groups outside the university and specific research on Europeanisation of Czech civil service.

The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.
